Why the Respiratory Clinic?

The reason the Respiratory Clinic has been established is to provide a dedicated service to people with COVID-19 symptoms and help reduce the spread of the Corona Virus.
It is important that these patients are seen in a separate facility rather than the regular medical centre in order to stop community spread. 

Who can be tested for COVID-19?

People who have the following symptoms can be tested for covid-19

  • Fever
  • Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Sore throat or
  • Shortness of breath

How to book an appointment in the Respiratory Clinic

You could either call 9247 9800 or book online by clicking on the link above Book an Appointment.  The Clinic is run on an Appointment Only system.
You do not need a referral to attend the Clinic.

What happens after the booking?

You will receive an SMS from the Clinic, linking you to the Department of Health website for you to fill in your details which will include your contact details, your Medicare details, emergency contact etc.  
You will also be asked a few clinical questions in order for the GP to make an assessment prior to your attendance.
The Clinic will contact you prior to your appointment with specific instructions on how to attend the Clinic.

There is dedicated parking adjacent to the Respiratory Clinic as shown on the aerial map below. 
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment and WAIT IN YOUR CAR  The Clinic will contact you with specific instructions on how to enter the Respiratory Clinic.

What to expect in the appointment?

The Doctor will assess you on arrival and take swabs from your nose and throat. To protect themselves when they are in close contact with you, they will wear a facemask and safety goggles. The swabs will be sent to Pathology for testing.

How much will it cost?

There is no cost to the Patient.

How will I get my results?

The results usually take 1 – 3 days. When your results are ready, you will be contacted by the Clinic either by telephone or text message. 
Text message results have been introduced to help inform those tested of a negative result quickly. 
If you have a positive result, Public Health services will also contact you.

What do I need to do while I’m waiting for my results?

After being tested, you must self-isolate at home until you receive your results.
Do not go to work, school, shops, or any other social gatherings.
Ask a friend or family to help with essential tasks outside your home, including getting groceries and other essential supplies for you, and to leave supplies on your doorstep rather than come into the house.
If you have a positive result, you will receive a phone call from the Public Health Service to confirm your result. You will need to stay in self-isolation unless you need medical care. They will provide you with more information about your ongoing care, including how to look after yourself and protect others.
